We chose to check out Black’s BBQ due to our love for family owned businesses. Also, we are huge fans of Tripadvisor reviews and Black’s had the highest number of reviews at over a thousand. They offer a unique dining experience, you come in and grab a plate and chose your sides which are priced based on serving. Then you move to the meat carving station where you pick your meats, which are priced based on weight. We LOVED the baby back ribs, perfectly smoked and tender. Our favorite side was their pinto beans which were cooked just like my grandpa use to make them which is hard to find and filled me with happiness.Everyone we spoke to in town had their favorite item from each of the BBQ joints, saying that there was no clear winner as best BBQ in Lockhart. We loved that unlike other places we have been where competing businesses talk poorly about one another, Lockhart was full of nothing but love for all things smoked!
This quaint little town has an easily explored downtown full of a variety of shops, a gorgeous county courthouse, delicious coffee shops, a theater and a wonderful State Park with a9 hole golf course. With its proximity to Austin we would highly suggest a trip to see the lovely town of Lockhart.
